I went on a big map-making spree last night, wanted to share We have: Boreal Boomerang, Evil Nasty Forest, Forest of Illusion, Extra Terrestrial, Foragers, and Horse Mystery Dungeon
In different themes, the "House" object will actually be things like trees! Only the dark forest and snow themes have trees in the current version, the rest have cartoony houses :>
Does anyone know or can give me a tutorial on how to solve the error problem when making a horse? I've been searching and trying to solve it for a long time, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(
I had a ton of fun playing with this! I decided to make wolves instead of horses (since wolves are my favourite animal), screenshot of a race i did attached (the blue wolf was my set's jovial merriment, and grey was my set's cyan, basically LOL). The quadruped run cycle i drew (sorry, typo, not coded) for them still worked SUPER well even though the animations are likely built for bipeds so that was neat to see!
On that note, is there any plans to be able to customize the victory images and the winning item (i.e switching the carrot for something else), or are those hard-baked into the game and unable to be customized like the horses and levels can?
Here's the sprite for the basic wolf i made, feel free to make edits to it for your own wolf. If you post races using these publicly please credit me for the base even if there's edits made, thank you <3
please add a “stop race” feature that stops/cancels the race and puts you back in the editor (also please make level auto-saving after you cancel a race or a horse beats the level)
This is awesome! Had to throw my idiot son into the game and I'll probably make some more over time. I wish I could assign custom images for the victory screen, cause it would be so funny. Fire game nonetheless :)
I think it would be nice to have a "rigging" system. For example, giving Jovial Merryment a 75% chance to win and Cyan a 15% chance. It could be nice for making stages races (which idk what they could be used for but it would just be cool) but I'm not quite sure how easy that would be for you to make.
I figured it out. It was because I was using a friend's horse that they said didnt need a BG to work, so I didnt load in a BG. Loading in a blank BG made the horse work ^^
I was getting the same error. The pngs need to be in the same folder as the .horse file. Not sure if they also need to have the same name as the .horse but I named them the same just to be safe and then it worked.
I really liked the fan-game based on HRT, but I wanna add a little thing that I think it would make the game more interesting, bc I was kinda disappointed about the fact that a maximum of 7 horses can race on the maps, bc I wanna make all the 9 horses to compete, or for example, make a race with 18 horses, so it should be an option (like a bar) about a minimum and maximun of horses who can compete, ofc, surpassing the 7 horses limit.
Still, great game, srry if any spelling mistakes were made, I'm not a native english speaker lol
I love the art style so much! All the expressions are so fun, the environments are very neat and have pretty palettes, and the horses themselves look so charming. Silliest little horses... <3

I like seeing my lil' eldritch blob sona wander around and fall over like a dummy. I ain't sorted out the RGB thingie, and it should just need a blank BG png.

Otherwise you can press R, but it does reset the level! that one needs another tooltip

why do I get broken by saving my customized horse?
hmmm are the images in the custom horses folder? and did you save the horse with the .horse extension? (can be erased accidentally)
im getting the same error even though the images are in the right folder and im saving with .horse :')
maybe you’re saving the .horse file into a different folder?

When I saved it without BG, it would break.
So I saved it with BG, and it works.
