I love the elegance of the mechanics and how the units both support each other directly and fill in needed roles. You can generally separate the troops into three or so different roles and it makes it really fun either building a lane focusing on one idea or try to make lanes that cover every need.
I really like the difficulty curve where at first it felt like I couldn't beat the king no matter what, and now I can do it relatively consistently. The enemy troops are completely different from the ones you choose and the overall unequal sides make the game really enjoyable. There are some strategies I love to try that no matter how inconsistent they are to pull off I try them anyway just because they're fun.
Overall I love it and am interested with what you'll do next (if you do something next with this).
I REALLY LOVE your art style😍😲🤯, it's just so stylish, colorful, and very good designed, so i just like it very much. I wish, i was able to draw as good as you draw😩😩😩
Are enemies in this game supposed to be able to skip to the end if the are marked with the death spell? When I fastforward and ane enemy is cursed, half the time they just skip to the end anyway. This has ruined a lot of my no hit runs, so is it a bug or nah?
Note: The Fastforward button says "Will skip effects" on it. ... mostly it DOESN'T do this, but yeah, the "curse and archery and such sometimes get skipped over" is very much part of how the fast forward button is described.
More reported bugs that I did not see listed below:
- Skulls lvl. 3 + funny bone can break the game also by dying in melee fight if their row is full and they get one shotted
- Adding a blessing on a wizard prevents him from using his ranged attack in that turn
- Adding a shield to a wizard is useless as the shield gets disabled for the run if he casts his ranged attack after a spell
- Leveling up: Putting an unit without buff or shield over an unit with buff or shield deleted the effects and items. You have to put the better one over the weak one or you lose progress
- (this one was the most annoying as it made me lose more games) If the SpeedUp function is active and an enemy on an empty lane has a Curse on him, he will not get damage for all the steps! Instead, he skips the lane to the first position in one step, taking damage only one time. Most frustrating when I have a curse on the king and this happens <3
Just revealed the super-disappointing bug that turned flawless victory into total defeat...
The Succubus L3 tried to charm the fat bastard as the second closest enemy to her. She failed and the king didn't turn around, but he became the ally for spells (just not clickable as the bard, for instance). So, I was unable to apply two Curses L3 subsequently to do 18 damage in 6 turns and lost everything
I am obsessed with Auto Battlers. I have played Drodo Auto Chess since it was a mod in DotA2, Super Auto Pets since update 3, and TFT since CBT.
I love this game as it feels like SAP, but on steroids as you have to manage 3 lanes.
I have 2 themed decks in mind. Also a potential villain.
Deck 1: Merfolk
Their strategy would center around Shields, but it is different from other decks. Their shields are Bubbles (one time use Shields, I think like the blessing buff? But a dmg redux). The units tend to have low HP, but they make up for that with Bubbles. Bubble buff is stackable, but only in uses. There are also other types of Bubbles, but they all have a Shield as their central gimmick. DMG Bubbles that do 1-3 points of dmg when burst. Heal Bubbles that heal when burst or HoT. Buff Bubbles that increase HP or DMG.
They are caster heavy, but they should have a few tanks and DPS that can make use of the different bubbles. As it is a squishy, glass cannon type deck, the deck would be a hard to use.
Deck 2: Treefolk
This deck is meant to scale decently. Their gimmick is buffs through Buildings. I love the Bank, Smith, and Nurse buildings. In SAP, I love playing Buff teams.
The deck has few actual Units, but a ton of buildings. The whole idea is to take a T1 and grow it into a one-man-army per lane. There can be a Tower Build which shoots arrows, does not move, and does not block. A Healer Build same as Tower but for heals. Etc.
Villain deck: Spectre Queen
This deck revolves around units that move quickly in order to stop any units that have skills that activate "on-step"
Rounds 1&2: Add 2 level 2 skeletons and anything else OR 1 level 2 skeleton and 1 level 2 skull. Best is 2 level 2 skeletons and archer/stone thrower. A level 2 archer is good for rounds 2-3 when you don't spy since it can target any lane. Always get skeletons first if they're there so you can afford everything. You can afford having some inefficiency, with a 4 castle damage combo instead of the ideal 5 damage for one or both of these rounds if you get lucky later.
Round 1:
Round 2:
Rounds 3-5: You want summon spells, rats and more level 2 skeletons (with the aim of getting at least one level 3 summon book by round 4/5). Bones are good if you already have skulls, but you probably don't want to make a new skull unless it's the best option available. You can probably afford 1/2 other buys if you must and they can protect the castle damage dealers. Use the summon spells as fodder to protect the level two skeletons/skulls as they do more damage to the castle. Rats should be protected the most as they do the most damage to the castle vs their ability to take out units. Level two rats are better than two level 1 rats, but level 3 isn't useful until fighting the king. When you get the level 3 summon book, potentially buy the tier 3 unit produced (ideally it's a summoner). For rounds 4-5, use the spy as you may need to sacrifice a lane to deal more damage. Don't merge summoners into level 2.
Round 3:
Round 5:
King Fight: 3 of any: summoner, bard, rocker, rats, bat spell to remove shield. Use spy to make sure you don't die and pick the best options. Don't bother with princes or knights in other lanes.
(Note that I altered the market probabilities to reduce the number of retries I needed when I was testing out the strategy, but it is still doable if you get extremely lucky. Using this strat across 6 rounds is much more likely and gives some leeway in terms of luck.)
I think five rounds is the best possible as the only way (I think) to do 60 castle damage in 4 rounds even if no units die is:
I have been trying for the 5 turn win for months using pretty much the strat you describe here. (Got 5 turns on the previous version of the game... but Summoners were Tier2 then)
Was amazed to see someone get it.... and then saw you had twiddled the market probabilities. (Still very cool, but also is a bit of cheating)
Yeah, I was doing some napkin math trying to figure out how likely it is to get the 5 round run properly and gave up lol. Nice job on the 6 round run!
Some probabilities:
Round 1 damage:
5 damage: 2.5% chance
4 damage: 36.4% chance
Round 2 would be similar, but slightly better because you have stuff from round 1.
Getting 4 or more summon spells in rounds 3-5 is ~3.7% chance
Getting 7 or 8 or 9 rats/skeletons/summon spells in rounds 3-5 is ~7.5% chance.
These aren't all independent probabilities and I wasn't too thorough checking them, but you're looking at a 1 in 5000 chance to get what you need and even after that you need to play well to actually win. This does seem in the realm of doable legitimately though.
For the record, I haven't gotten a 5 round run without twiddling probabilities, so the challenge of being the first legit 5 round run is still open ;)
The probability of getting the market selections you need for the 4 round run is 1 in 40343846 alone. It's probably just as rare to get the enemy spawns you need so that's never happening.
But wizards are so fun! I had a run with only ranged stuff + spells and wizards carried it almost to the end (king remained with 1 HP). I know they are annoying because of RNG factor, but this switches the fight from a planned one to an intense one. Third book is also very useful against the king, even sturdy tanks can struggle with his stats, but having a free attack (with 2x damage on 3rd level) is OP. Though I agree that for beginners these strategies may be unnecessarily complicated at first.
Thank you! I failed to see how useful the 3rd book would be against the king! When I play it doesn't say it doubles but says it adds just +1 attack!
Wizards aren't 'bad' but they are hard to utilize correctly. Wizards can't "load"/"stack" spent spells. For example, you spend 3 spells. You might expect to have the wizard have 3 spell attacks loaded. However, the wizard will only attack once and the other two are wasted. This is hard to utilize with the 1st book because it requires movement for damage so you want to set it off early especially if you are targeting archers.
I still love this game and play it a lot. I think, the shield item is a bit overpowered. Once you have three units with a shield and a bit of boost in health and attack, you cannot loose anymore.
ok, this specific distinction is actually useful! It's quite a hard thing to replicate and debug, so it helps! I need to see what's up with the skulls in particular, they have nothing different in theory.
It's the case of Skulls AND funnybones item stacked on top.
Probably you would get similar problems with Summoners or rats with Funnybones (I can try to test this if needed) - something about the row being full, and both the unit AND the item trying to summon at the same time seems cause the crash (cuts directly to black screen) EDIT: I've done the experiment (see below). Looks like its only skulls for some reason.
Love the game, played it all day for 2 days until I had it down to a precise science. I cant wait for it to drop on steam with more features and possibly a local multiplayer? Can we get that?
Some things that might need to be addressed:
Buildings not being good enough (They kinda suck rn)
Spells not being worth the space they take up (While they can be solid, they just are crazy hard to use and therefore not worth the while when you can drop flying skulls and the rocker with imps and rats to win)
thx for making this game its a W and if you want to we can Collab I run a YT channel called Gardav3d when u drop it on steam to start =D Just putting the offer out there!
For the lulz. I didn't even have any summons. I got my 3 sword boys to 99/99 with a lot of castle health left, so I thought I'd try to fill the board with level 3 guys. I picked bards and rockers because I wanted to prolong the game and they are really weak on their own, plus it's funny to have a band playing for the final battle with the king.
Came back to this one year later and... Damn. This is better than ever. One note though: I'm playing on a lower end PC and it's lagging horribly. Before a steam release, could we get a lower graphics setting?

my best run so far, king didn't stand a chance
Big Boney had a whooping 61 attack
Final Results:
Remaining Health: 3
Turns Needed: 13
Number of units: 24
Number of spells: 9
Number of buildings: 14
Level three things: 11
Woo I won, unfortunately i forgotten to screenshot it but what I did was:
level 2 bard top back
level 2 bard middle back
level 3 summoner top
level 3 rat middle
level 2 wizard bottom back
level 1 warrior bottom
level 2 skull bottom
level 3 summon book
level 3 curse book
I moved the summoner at the top down to the middle for the king
this game is rlly good! wonderful work.
Keep coming back to this game. Very cool that you get a different ending if you both kill and die
I love the elegance of the mechanics and how the units both support each other directly and fill in needed roles. You can generally separate the troops into three or so different roles and it makes it really fun either building a lane focusing on one idea or try to make lanes that cover every need.

fastest ive ever won! or i guess won? fantastic game, i keep coming back to it. so well made and the art is so charming.
Was able to consistently reach the king, but allways feil to kill him. An excalibur with 42 attack did the job
I REALLY LOVE your art style😍😲🤯, it's just so stylish, colorful, and very good designed, so i just like it very much. I wish, i was able to draw as good as you draw😩😩😩
I won!!! ( Excalibur carry 27 damage :fear:)
God tier game, I'm broke and cant donate, but you deserve every cent you get for this game!
I can't wait until the complete game comes out. I wonder if there will be more levels and more types like a gigantic brute.
I love it, but i wish that i didnt have to use every single money before going to the fight.
just take it away or let us keep it for next round.
same
Very pleasant game!
Had a good run and finished with a full health. Took about 7 runs to achieve... Summons seem great. And economy buildings early too
Okay this game is cracked and kinda hard at first, love it!
why did i think the front cover person was jaiden

wow, this is new! thanks for reporting, I'll be checking that one out!
I'm looking forward to the update. :3 I like this game of yours the most
МНЕ ОЧЕНЬ ПОНРАВИЛОСЬ ИГРАТЬ В ЭТО :3 автор молодец
PERFECT RUN!!!
i finally did a perfect run and im really happy :3 wonderful game
JUEGAZO me encantó amigo, AMAZING GAME I LOVED

Round 4 : 3 level 2 rats + 4 level 2 skeletons + 1 level 2 skull = 26 damage
Total : 5 + 11 + 18 + 26 = 60 exactly, but I can't think of anyway for all units to survive every round without losing more than 9 health.
Update:
4 turns is actually possible too but it's probably never going to happen in an actual run. You need the best luck in the market and the enemy spawns:
This is definitely the minimum you can do.
Congrats. Great reasearch and investigation.

Love the game, though it's difficulty is a hassle.
I finally did it! After all this time!
You half won, if you defeat the king while having lives left, you don't have that skull as your face
I know.
well, that's lovely too see...
Truly Amazing Game!
Tips for those that are stuck:
Creating a level 3 piece creates a better item on the top right of the item box (use that before creating another level 3 piece).
Sometimes it is better to have two level 2's than a single 3.
Without money houses, optimal buying is for 1 reroll and 3 pieces.
Don't freeze to much in the early rounds. You want have the option to buy better pieces.
Always get the first book and use to replace the shield.
Use your first book as soon as possible in the round since it triggers by movement.
Wait to use your 2nd (skeleton) book for the row that needs it.
If you don't need to use the skeleton book, then don't. That way you can delay seeing the final boss.
Don't buy the 3rd book.
The Final Boss:
Final boss is always in the middle. Have your best pieces there since as long as you kill the king you technically win.
Before the final boss, sell all your buildings and any useless pieces.
Use the 1st book on any enemy shield pieces in the second row (or if you are definitely going to win, use it on his two knights).
Specifically:
Assassins behind tanks with shields = win.
Stone thrower > Archer since they only attack their column (more predictable) and upgraded stone throwers continue to throw.
Make a single row for summon/summoners = win.
Money house = win.
Like @El_Makina, the shield item is overpowered.
Don't buy the 3rd book or the wizard piece.
I've never tried a fully ranged set!
This is hard to utilize with the 1st book because it requires movement for damage so you want to set it off early especially if you are targeting archers.
I agree.
I beat it with wizards!
I had two level three 1st books and two wizards. It was fun.
I still love this game and play it a lot. I think, the shield item is a bit overpowered. Once you have three units with a shield and a bit of boost in health and attack, you cannot loose anymore.
Frail little twink skeleton KILLS entire army
I won!!! hope this game will get updates actually satasfying to play
Double Archers murder my Skulls+Bones, tries to explode into a full row, game crash. :(
This also happens to me. Whenever an archer kills a skull with bone item, the game crashes. Not sure why it does not happen on close range kill tho.
Pretty sure it happens because the skull tries to "unpack", and if there is no space in the row, the game crashes.
Something about how that is handled is different to Summoners or rats, (if they don't have enough space, you just lose some of your summons)
ok, this specific distinction is actually useful! It's quite a hard thing to replicate and debug, so it helps! I need to see what's up with the skulls in particular, they have nothing different in theory.
It's the case of Skulls AND funnybones item stacked on top.
Probably you would get similar problems with Summoners or rats with Funnybones (I can try to test this if needed) - something about the row being full, and both the unit AND the item trying to summon at the same time seems cause the crash (cuts directly to black screen)
EDIT: I've done the experiment (see below). Looks like its only skulls for some reason.Okay, nope, I've come back and checked it out:
Did my best to crash the game only using rats, summoners and funny bones (no skulls)
Turns out, for this set up even if my rats get shot and the row overflows, the game can handle it.
So... whatever error is going on, it appears to ONLY apply to Skulls with Funnybones on them.
Not sure why that is, but hope it helps.
EDIT: (That, or there's something special about dude's being shot in row one as opposed to row three... but this seems less likely to be the cause.)
i won :D it took me a few hundrd tries but i never got tired of the game !
can't wait for updates in this game !
ps;: an infinite mode woudl be instrsting
infinite mode would be cool
people could compete to see who survives the longest and does the most damage
This game is so good 😊 (I want to die this game is too hard and I'm so close to winning)
I adore this game and it really reminds me of old Kongrigate flash games! well done!
Can't wait to see where this goes and will be looking forward to the expansions!
(I haven't won yet but come close)
once you win once you really get the hang of it and will win more
some advice is use some good strategies like using bard with stuff like skulls or just brute force with shield
succubus is pretty good ngl
after a long time i finally beat it
i had the trio of skulls with funny bone, with bards and rocker to buff the insane amount of summoned things.
i won with 0 hp left due to the king being rushed and dying to like 10 bones and skulls
Different image! I guess she becomes a skeleton. Thanks for sharing
Won after a couple runs with 0 HP left because I killed the king and died to the princes. Summon builds were a lot of fun
Love the game, played it all day for 2 days until I had it down to a precise science. I cant wait for it to drop on steam with more features and possibly a local multiplayer? Can we get that?

I guess I can quit playing now...
Why do you have multiple rockers? I thought their effect does not stack, so it makes no sense to have more than one. Am I wrong?
For the lulz. I didn't even have any summons. I got my 3 sword boys to 99/99 with a lot of castle health left, so I thought I'd try to fill the board with level 3 guys. I picked bards and rockers because I wanted to prolong the game and they are really weak on their own, plus it's funny to have a band playing for the final battle with the king.
Fair.
speedrunning is kind of fun, I got a sub 5 minutes!
